Preliminary studies to enhance the need for reducing psychosomatic disorder by psychodrama
Cho Sung-Hee

Abstract
This study is to emphasize the potential effectiveness of psychodrama to reduce psychosomatic symptoms that domestic violent victims frequently experience. Those victims who find refuge at shelters and usually need clinic visits for internal medicine and treatment are found suffering chest pain, severe headache, digestion problems, body numbness, arthritis, and other symptoms. These are indicators of psychosomatic disorder. Studies have found psychodrama very effective in reducing depression and anger by way of many therapeutic factors; however, no studies are found on effectiveness of psychodrama on somatic symptoms. Studies in 2004 and 2006 found many violent victims in shelters with illness severe to the extent they seek treatment at clinic. After participating psychodrama sessions, those who showed significantly reduced depression reported their somatic symptoms greatly reduced to the extent that no further clinic visit was needed. So, further research studies are suggested to discover effectiveness of psychodrama on somatic symptoms of violent victims.
